BONIFY SHUT DOWN
Salutations
This is why there are quality assurance technician jobs everywhere.
Winnipeg based cannabis LP Bonify has had two of their products recalled and their OPERATIONS FROZEN and products delisted and seized by the Manitoba government after an investigation by Health Canada.
Top executives have been fired and operational oversight has been handed over to third party firm RavenQuest Technologies Inc.
Board members are in full PR control, not issuing much in the way of statements, but optimistic that this will just be a blip in the road on their road to "total compliance"
Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister is PISSED. Angry at the feds for not jumping in sooner. Health Canada responded to a phone complaint on Nov 23, and decided to follow it up at the planned inspection on Dec. 6- and on the 7th Issued the recall of the two products in question.
Why did it take so long for this to hit the news cycle?
Now the details are all still a little fuzzy, with "irregularities" being cited regarding microbial / contamination by Health Can. Bonify voluntarily recalled two strains - Warlock Kush and Cherry Lime Pie which had been sold at 3 retailers in Saskatchewan. A recall has been ordered, and any one who purchased ANY bonify products should return them for a refund.
This is a black eye on the legal cannabis industry, and while this is not the first recall of its kind- it has surely gotten the attention of our already hardline Premiere and fellow Winnipeg based LP Delta 9, are hoping to assure the public- that legal cannabis IS the safe and regulated product they advertise.
Bonify has admitted that these strains did not get the lab certification that is required of all new products that come to market. Whether that is simply an accounting error- or some nefarious scheme to bypass the legal parameters of our new system- is yet to be seen. We'll wait to see what the official story is after they've finished their investigation..
