G.S.C.- One of the most notorious / nefarious cannabis strain names has landed on local shelves in Winnipeg recently. Grown sustainably and organically with glacier fed mountain water and handled with B.C. care- Canna Farms has continued to offer top shelf recreational cannabis after being distinguished as the first legal producer of medical cannabis in British Columbia.
Formerly known as Girl Scout Cookies until the Girl Scouts of America started serving cease and desist orders to every California dispensary daring to use the name on their menu's- forcing the common change to "cookies" or the abbreviated GSC.
Origins of the strain are hotly debated and mostly moot at this point in history. It is one of the most Reviewed strains on Leafly.com and everyone can tell you why their "cookies" are the real deal and not one of the most counterfeited names in the industry. After doing a lot of research- Let me save you some time and point you to this fantastic article by Chris Roberts of the SF Weekly in 2016.
In the full-length journal piece, he speaks to the California scene in the early 2010's- and a San Fran growers group called the Cookie Fam who took the name to new heights- and managed to Trademark and evolve a cannabis strain into a retail empire. But after all of the who's? and where's? What IS Girl Scout Cookies?
I first heard about GSC when a grower buddy returned from judging the Prarie Medicinal Harvest Cup around 2012 and brought a bunch of judging samples home for me to try- It was as varied as it was delicious. Many growers had selected phenotypes that represented varying degrees of vanilla, mint, chocolate, berries- all with the caramelized baking scent that unifies the cookie family. You might see many variants on the GSC flavor profile from different producers over time.

Canna Farms has made the choice to package their 3.5g retail product in profoundly childproof zip-top bags. The bags are not really resealable, but they are recyclable so just plan to move to a glass or metal container when you get a chance for optimum freshness. Back to the buds:
Trim and manicure is very tight, with minimal shake in the container. Weighed 3.46 and the humidity is optimal. Flowers have an almost blue undertone with trichomes catching some nice rainbow colors under magnification, absolutely scintillating under full spectrum lamplight.
Opening aroma: 8.5
Malted vanilla, white cupcakes and minty butter cream. Powdered donut comes to mind, but with a slight floral quality. Does not overwhelm the room, the scent is closely knit within the flowers themselves as busting livens the day old baking aroma into more of a plated dessert, mint leaves and all.
Flavor profile: 8.5
I think I would get fat smoking this cannabis too often. It has a comforting vapor that tastes like deeply inhaling into a box of ... well.... cookies! I did not get quite as much of that sweetness in the final smoke but I find that typical of most original GSC, it just landed a wee bit flat after such a lofty introductory aroma. It begins soft and ends soft, with a delicious lingering vanilla note that sits at the top of your sinus.
Exceptionally smooth.
Experience: 9.0
I found this batch of GSC to be very potent- even at very low doses. A tiny bowl for me, would elicit a clarifying effect, able to shake the doldrums of the day without impacting my overall daily output. More than one tiny bowl and I was drifting into a very comforting sense of relaxation and much needed sleep in a cold-ridden week. The word I would use to describe this: Clarifying.
TLDR: 8.75
This batch of G.S.C. by Canna Farms is VERY GOOD. Altho it might have been a bit more candy-dipped in the terpene department, it LOOKS nearly flawless. A top shelf package to match the product would help make price point seem more approachable to some consumers but that is some tiny shade to toss.
