Salutations~

From over 5500 responding Canadians, Stats Canada has released the following data collected in the first 3 months of 2019.

Canadians are reportedly spending less on black market cannabis, with 47.4% of respondents saying they purchased from legal sources, up from 22.9% this time last year.  The rest are still buying from the black market or "friends and family"

The number of reported users has increased slightly on all demographics- with 15-24yr old users showing the largest movement upwards from 23.2% up to 29.5%.  Which is surprising to me, after reading so much media about the current state of drug use among teens and its apparent decline.

5.4 Million Canadians have reported using cannabis in the last year as reported in this excellent piece by Vanmala Subramiam from the Financial Post, up 4% from Q1 in 2018. Many in the industry are poised for a surge in new users when the new laws concerning edibles, concentrates and topicals are unveiled.

Will we see the same sort of wholesale price wars over cannabis flowers that has forced the price per pound down from 3-4000$ to around 500-1000$ in 2018 in Colorado, California and British Columbia? Will the availability of THC distillate have the same impact that it has south of our border? Will people really be THAT into edibles?
