LP Profile: Van der Pop

Style inspired by "less is more"- Van der Pop
Salutations~

Van der Pop is a new brand in town with a new strain Cloudburst which I look forward to reviewing soon- but first you cats should check out what these ladies have got going on.   A well executed website and Instagram account, featuring a lot of interactive content for readers with a focus on health, sexuality, lifestyle and of course, cannabis.

Owned by Seattle fashionista and entrepreneur April Pride, Van der Pop was- and is, the leading cannabis digest for women.  This has evolved into an international partnership with HIKU brands after being acquired by Tokyo Smoke (Canopy Growth) in 2017.  Both are stylish, thoughtfully executed and well positioned in the retail market to make a big impact.

Unfortunately- the Canadian government has really stifled the ability of this marketing strategy to reach their audiences in many ways- Awesome packaging, clever ad campaigns and sponsored events are all no-go's unless in Age Gated establishments, and even then- its almost totally prohibited to show any form for fun, or targeted advertisements.  So what good is a women's brand if it can't reach its audience?

Van der Pop has tried to get around this by using social media to help spread word in a more fashion forward way.  Having initially found her fame designing a one-size-fits-all halter top dress, the Van der Pop brand initially focused on high style accessories, including leather stash purses with commercial locks hidden inside to keep kids out.   Grinder cards, Stash Jars and Rolling papers are all part of the bigger picture.

They also offer discreet little cannabis meetups called "Sessions" that can help like minded women and friends get together and discuss the ins and outs of cannabis in a discreet and focused way.  I included links at the bottom if the hyperlinks aren't up.

How their cannabis sales will do, is yet to be seen. But if they can keep green on the shelves, I'm sure they'll be expanding outwards as their partnership with HIKU brings some new limited time offerings from collaborative works between the two stylish brands.

*Side note- I just read that the CEO of Canopy is stepping down today- and now stocks are shooting up like crazy.   Will update that tomorrow
