Medical diversity shrinking
Spectrum Cannabis substitution recommendations |
This might not be a good month to become a patient.
I have extended feelers out to several of the large LP's and online retailers regarding medical vs retail availability. So far- I have only heard back from 3 out of 8 since Oct 17.
There are many online resources to book consultations with many of these companies- That was not my intention- I have specifically requested any information regarding compassionate pricing for medical patients- and expressed concerns about the dwindling portfolios offered by even the largest market cap holders.
I am still awaiting responses from many of the other companies as well and will update accordingly.
I have attatched one mailer from Spectum Cannabis which owns the Tweed brand amongst others.
They have made recommendations for patients who are no longer to order their favorite spectrum brand products, to help them find something they might like.
19 Options has become 5. All generic names like, Red, Blue, Green and Orange. Sounds enticing!
The options for patients at this point seem to be dwindling quickly. And altho many of these companies were founded under the pretense of offering legal cannabis to Canadians thru the affordable access act, they are now facing the market pressures of dwindling stock prices as consumer demand rises.
Items that are listed at retail locations that were previously available to patients as a priority, have been rezoned to retail, while the supply chain province to province- is stabilized.
Having been subscribed to several E-News outlets for cannabis patients I have watched the availability of higher grade flowers slowly narrow, with soooo many options listed as "sold out" or "coming soon"
Edible oils have been a staple for cannabis industry stakeholders with sales of roughly 30% of their quarterly sales in 2017 listed on several TSE traded reports. Since legalization there has been almost zero availability of edible oil products for either the recreational OR medical consumers. New facilities are being constructed all over the country to meet this demand as well as prepare for legalization of concentrates in 2019.
This only means that being careful about selecting the right LP for your medical license is more important than ever. If you're a medical patient- they should be putting your health before the $$$.
