Review: Keats ( Broken Coast)

Salutations

Let me open with a Dad Joke:
What do Alexander the Great and Winnie the Pooh have in common..... ?

What does a black market dealer have in common with your local cannabis shop?
I guess that really depends on where you go.   I hope that I can help give some third party impartial reviews to help get you thru the door and on to your own adventure with as little hassle as possible.

DISCLAIMER: I do not endorse the use of cannabis, nor do I have any affiliations with any company's, brands or influencers. I only mention products that I have immediately purchased and will be giving a brief description of the terpene / flavonoids as interpreted by myself.
Know the law- If you're not of age to partake in cannabis in your local area- Come back when you are!

My first trip to a retail cannabis shop was made on October 17th in the evening to Delta 9's first Winnipeg location.  Located in a strip mall in a commercial / residential area located close to a large shopping mall, it was easy to locate by a large white glowing store: Delta 9 Cannabis Store.  It made me smile and laugh like a kid seeing the big wheel of a carnival coming over the horizon. It was after dark already but there was still a security guard watching the flow of waiting customers, who were waiting behind velvet ropes about 12 people deep.  No biggie.   There was a funny guy standing outside the shop, chiding prospective customers " You guys just abandon your dealers for government weed? sellouts! Can I bum a smoke? " but we were asked to show our id's to a suit wearing gentleman, who ushered us thru a set of double doors into a large white room.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting- some version of an Apple store from the mid 2000's with a genius bar or something? There were employees wearing polo shirts bearing the Delta 9 crest, some in black loose fitting shirts, others behind the counter in bright white short sleeve polo shirts,  kind of reminding me of a Saturn dealership.

There were about 100+ customers in store, some in a queue to get to the Budtender station where there were a group of employees who seemed a little older than most- People you could trust to have some experience in bartending, or some sort of Point of Sale service.  Very friendly- lots of eye contact- even high fives and celebrations for anyone who wanted one.  Large screens above this station displayed a list of dried cannabis flowers available, prices, CBD / THC contents.  We were shown some products displayed in jars with magnifying lens' attached to the top, but it was difficult to really get a good look at it while its moving around in the air, held by this fellow.  It had a slide top lid that he opened so we could smell the items individually and I selected 3.5 grams of The Keats for $42.

Keats, by Broken Coast (White Walker Kush) is a hybrid indica / sativa (60/40) originating between a cross between Skywalker OG and White Widow and clocking in @ 20.4%THC >1%CBD.
A tight coral like bud structure with a heady coating of trichomes, some light purple notes coming thru in the tops of the flowers.  Buds were large at 2.5+ grams each.  You might be doing the math now... and saying-  Bud(S)? I was blown away when I got home to realize they sold me a 7 gram package by accident!~  Happy accidents! That's a good way to keep customers coming back, but I hope that no one got fired.
Terpene profile is reminiscent of fresh planed cedar with strong overtones of exotic dried fruit and pineapple basil.  Very strong smell in the jar, extremely fragrant vapor- not for trying to be stealthy with- if that was your plan.   Really inviting on the palette, strong upfront fruit salad punch on the draw matched equally by a thick, almost creamy-dessert exhale finishing with a bit of fuel and spice hanging around in your sinus in a very pleasant way.   I was pleasantly uplifted and could NOT stop talking and smiling.  It was different than the heavy couch-locking strains I tend to favor and is a very good representation of what a Hybrid cross should be like.  If you're looking for a good evening experience after dinner with friends- this would be great.  We paired this with a group of friends, a Belgian white ale, and later a great bottle of white wine- Conviction, by The Industrialist (Sovereign Opal)
It was a fantastic day.
