Prices Coast to Coast: PT 2
Salutations~
Yesterday we took a look at the diversity of cannabis flower available in the westernmost provinces as well as the relative cost of a gram. Who's getting gouged on pricing? Well, probably everyone- but moreso Manitobans. I had a feeling my cannabis budget wasn't going very far... (68$-1/8th?!!)
It was not unexpected- but British Columbia has a glut of producers competing with a well established dispensary model. The availability is massive and prices are very competitive, or outright the cheapest in the country at the moment.
Moving east of Ontario, (who are seeing price increases on their most popular products by the LCBO, hopefully that will balance out April 1st when 25 new shops open their doors. ) we reach Quebec.
Residents of Quebec must go thru the provincially owned SQDC which is only open 4 days a week at the moment, with short opening hours. Their dried flower selection has a LOT of SOLD OUT on their page. But most 1/8ths coming in under 30$ pricing seems fairly competitive-if you can get it.
Newfoundland / Labrador also find themselves with the province as their only legal option to purchase cannabis. 40 dried flower options including pre-rolls and most 1/8ths sitting around the 40$ mark, seems like they could use some healthy competition to bring in more supply and better prices.
New Brunswick- Provincially run- 42 options as of today, prices are edging higher here, with low end items going for over 10$/g and Broken Coast going for 14.28$/g with prominent placement on the government website, so hopefully they have a more consistent supply than we do.
Prince Edward Island had a much better selection than I anticipated. 80 individual products with the majority of items under or around 30$-1/8th and the widely popular Broken Coast is 13$/g even on the opposite side of the country. Well played PEI. Well played.
No new gold rush for my brothers up in the Yukon. Whitehorse has one lone Gov't run shop and altho prices are still lower than in MB, selection is pretty grim with only 16 options in stock as of this writing. (Canna Farms products are the high end at 56$-1/8th)
Northwest Territories - You poor cats are not getting the selection you need. Only 8 strains to choose from starting at 13$/g. It can only get better from here? *sending thoughts and prayers*
Nova Scotia: Website bars non residents from viewing products. C'mon Nova Scotia; even the Trailer Park Boys would be running this operation better. "It doesn't take rocket appliances"
And Nunuvut- Well...at least its not prohibition anymore...? There are currently no stores, or services to obtain cannabis directly- and the only legal option is to order from Tweed. Weird. Other than carrying up to 30g directly, while traveling- It is illegal to import, ship or cargo in any other fashion.
Damn.
Tomorrow- I will be looking at Highest and Lowest priced options, most widely available brands and more.
