Cold Creek Kush is a funky little number.
One of the "terpier" strains on the market @ 2.04%- ( one of the best things about medical cannabis- is access to more detailed info about a specific lot of cannabis ) with over 1% Mycrene and significant ratios of Caryophyllene and Trans-Ocimene it stood out to me as something to try in my first order from Canna Farms.
The scientific evidence of cannabis terpenes is somewhat limited, but what I DO know for certain- is that a higher terpene count, means more flavor in your medicine.
There are a few companies out there growing Cold Creek- I have previously reviewed Vertical Cannabis' genetics and found myself enamored with the complex flavor profile and aroma.
Lets see how Albert Craft Cannabis stacks up.
Opening Inspection: 8.75
Medium sized buds between .5-1g. Zero shake. Weighed 5.1g ( Medical containers come in 5g units rather than the 3.5-7g packages in the recreational market) Very dense, closed structure with some irregularly tipped colas, giving a very classic indica look.
Coloration is light sandy green, with high volume of short rosy-ochre pistils. Trichomes are short and milky / tan giving these buds a "desert camo" look. Very thin stems and tiny, crystally bracts show off the hydroponic techniques of short veg time and a high-nutrient flowering period. Looks healthy!
The cure / moisture level is ideal for vaping / bowls. When I pull it apart with my fingers it falls apart easily without compacting and has a unique sort of stickyness- like a Kinetic Sand sculpture. Ash burned nearly white.
Aroma- 9.25
In the jar I pick out notes of peppery papaya seeds with pinewood, petrichor and malted barley *alliteration not intended.
After grinding or even just some light handling- it explodes into something else entirely~
sour mango, lime and even a bit of mint overtake the foresty notes that the whole buds had been hiding. The closer I get my nose, the sweeter it becomes- but from arms reach- I get sharper sour notes of rotting lime and funky gas.
Palate-8
Woodsy pine on the draw with a surprisingly sativa opening- sitting in the tops of my sinus-
Mid draw it becomes like a spicy white pepper, white wood, juniper, mango
and finishing on a decidedly "kushy" tone with clove and spice rounding everything off the sharp opening.
Mk Ultra X Chemdawg are both familiar parents in this flavor, but tends to lean towards the G-13 grandfather I.M.O - but a very unique profile. I look forward to concentrates of this strain in fall- and would also like to try this as an edible or whole plant extract.
Experience- 8.5
Spa day. Stretch those legs out. Forget about Karen from work and her never ending attempts to get you to watch big brother Canada. Put that recliner up, order some greasy take out and study up on the Dutch Art of Doing Nothing called "Niksen". This will ease you out of a tough day without totally smooshing your energy for the evening.
Medical Notes:
Analgesic properties. Not overly sedative for the high THC percentage
TLDR- 85/100
Alberta Craft Cannabis has certainly taken pride in their Cold Creek Kush and it shows with a well manicured end product with a bombastic terpene profile. I'd call this a "pain killer" strain, big relaxing body high, I felt dreamy and mentally stimulated without yawning all day. Would be well suited as a post-workout therapy but could be distracting if you needed to focus on a detailed task.
