Broken Coast has a big following in this country. ( Myself included.)
With consistently gorgeous crops of sticky, big buds it's easy to be enamored.
But with some consumers pointing to slowly dropping THC percentages since legalization and the sale to corporate giant Aphria as signs of a turning tide, does Broken Coast 2019 still have the fyre?

Visual Inspection- 9/10
Medium-large sized flowers make up the bulk of this 3.5g package ( weighed 3.55 to be exact! ) soft and fluffy with golden trichomes blanketing flower from stem to top, giving this a striking look.  Semi open structure with irregularly spaced coral-like tips with fat calyx's all clumped tightly together like a nest full of snuggley baby owls.  I almost felt guilty grinding it up.



Aromatics- 7.5/10
Fallen pine needles / earth, musty old book, grape flavored cigarello.
I vaguely remember this being a lot fruitier in past tastings, but I still get a faint sweet / sour back note. Its not a stinker by any means- but it does have an understated oomph like a swarthy cologne.

Palate- 8.5/10
Humungously rich, spicy, clouds of smoke.  A bit of pepper and clove up front, meshing with a deep, dusty, preserved fruit- raisin, plum. As I am exhaling it settles almost equally into the back of my throat and the mid-sinus area below my eyes, something I associate with good Haze's.  Almost reminds me of some Cavendish tobacco's I used to smoke during my "old-man pipe-smoking phase."

Experience- 8.5/10
Northern Lights Haze has been a cannabis cup winner in the Sativa category for over 25 years due to its "nearly psychedelic" type of high. While some sativa's tend to take you down that creative path- I found this batch of Galiano to be a full body experience with a wandering mind and unfocused energy.

Easily distracted this week while using this strain- I found it very potent in small doses and lasted me a lot longer than I expected compared to similar THC profiled products.  Silly and Fun!

Medical Notes:
This strain has a low threshold for dosing- if I was a newer user- I would approach this very slowly as it gets the job done quick.  Anxiety is up, found myself wanting to pace, but not actually produce any work / get much done other than get really into Stranger Things.   Maybe not a long term tool for my personal care plan with multiple sclerosis.

TLDR; 8.5 / 10
Broken Coast may have had some higher THC% lots with bigger, brighter aromas in the past, but this is still going to find a great spot in most people's collections for entertaining guests or merely indulging in some much needed "Me Time" on the weekend.  Frosty golden flowers that scream SMOKE ME and a big, booming flavor to back it up.  Could have been a bit more aromatic tho- and that 19% is falling short of the 26% that was common this time last year in the medical world.
