Canadian Cannabis Research Races to Meet the Urgent Needs

Salutations~

Massive news for cannabis science, in general really.

The Canadian Institutes for Health Research- Cannabis Initiative and ICRS ( Integrated Cannabis Research Strategy) were eager to announce their 2019 funding aimed at the advancement of cannabis research

Taking a slow, but very Canadian approach, by providing funding for high urgency projects related to the medical field, policy making, sociological AND environmental impact of cannabis in our country... and then reconcile what data is out there- by strengthening evidence based research as quickly as Canucks can do.

This funding opportunity is expected to:

⏩Generate preliminary observations, data or knowledge into the potential benefits and harms of cannabis and/or cannabis use
⏩Support projects which have the potential to generate high impact results and/or innovative research proposals, research tools, techniques, devices, inventions or methodologies
⏩Facilitate consideration and application of new evidence to inform ongoing and future development of policies, practices and programs related to cannabis

This means- Strategic 1 year projects- meant to deliver quick answers for the MANY lawmakers, healthcare practitioners and adult cannabis users who rightly feel there's not enough REAL DATA to make informed decisions with.

Many of the vital appendages to the governing health body were giving thumbs up:

Mental Health Researchers- Want 4.5 million to do cannabis research? It's yours!
Multiple Sclerosis Researchers: Boom- Here's 1.5 million dollars!
Cancer Researchers- 1.5 Million for you too, we didn't forget

The list continues, providing a financial platform for researchers outside of the current "funding stream"   When the only data that is being collected is by Corporate Interests, you might not always end up with unbiased reports and that's why initiatives like this are important on a global level.

We are at a very interesting point in history here in Canada- It took a long time to get to this point, and we are trying to be polite, holding the door for our neighbors around the world.  We wouldn't want to be rude- and not have all of the unpleasantness ironed out before the guests arrive, would we?
