Broken Coast is on fire lately. LITERALLY.
Current orders are all being put on hold until given the green light by Health Canada to ensure none of their product was contaminated in the toxic blaze. Apparently a drying room caught up, and some of the materials in the walls used to control humidity created a black, acrid mess when it combusted and required some special cleanup by the fire department. Luckily no-one was hurt and I hope they can resume production quickly, but in the meanwhile- time to enjoy what we still have.
Opening Inspection: 9/10
Sandy green with vivid rusty orange pistils, absolutely saturated in creamy / tan headed trichomes. Long, rounded calyx's giving a fox-tail appearance, especially with the reddish / orange hairs. Buds have a weighty, resinous heft with a waxy toughness, not quite sticky. Smokes to a nearly white ash or rich cloudy vapor that kept giving and giving, from of my dry herb vape. Feels wrong to grind it...
Aroma: 8.75/10
Citronella, Cedar / Pine sap, Wildflowers and White Pepper
An intriguing and handsome profile that smells like a day in a forest meadow. Fairly unique smelling I.M.O. Reminds me of the lemon ice tea concentrate powder that I identify with Sensi Star, but with a floral / peppery backbone. Grinding reveals a strong "woodsy" profile

At 23.1% THC there is a certain respect that I give when reviewing a new strain. Scaling my dosages up from a single vape pull, up to .5g over the last couple of days has yielded the following results.
Micro-dosing vapes at first, I felt very mentally stimulated, recalling old stories, feeling focused and creative. It's very easy to enjoy a pull or two, making this a good "burn rate" value for the $$$. I will be honest- the desire to roll up a massive cigar and smoke it with the boys was pretty high- I get a pretty spacey, positive and fun vibe from higher doses and this would be decent "socializing / party" weed.
Medical Notes: Long lasting effects, bordering on psychotropic, probably not great for newer / low THC users. Helped relax my tense muscles more than I was expecting. Very dry mouth
TLDR 9.25/10
Gabriola by Broken Coast is another pretty little ditty that looks great, smells great, tastes great and hits hard. With a focused, positive vibe that encourages creativity without stifling ambition, I think this is a winner for me and I dare say, this might be my favorite Broken Coast strain I have tried so far ( with Keats coming in a very close 2nd ) .
